Reports have come in from Polaris, the newer offshoot of Project Horseshoe. I have complicated feelings about these invite-only think tank events, but Polaris passes the vibe test for me on that.
The reports are all on topics I’m interested in, so I’m excited to get more time to dive into each. This year’s reports included:
- Enriching Your Game with Disobedience
- Notes From the Boundaries of Interactive Storytelling
- There is No Wheel: A Framework for Creating Emotionally Resonant Game Mechanics
- How To Design Collective Decision-Making Systems
- Expanding Player Impact in Social Spaces
[Disclosure: I was invited to Project Horseshoe once when I was a grad student, I couldn’t afford the couple-thousand dollars to attend that year, and haven’t been invited again. I have not been invited to Polaris].
